About Marsha McAllister

My family traveled across country by car or train to visit relatives every summer. The passing landscapes of new routes streaming by --- changing worlds inspiring a lifetime fascination for the natural world, and the magnified experiences of divided space / divided people / what is left behind/

My emotional responses to that which is seen –what is represented — is fluid. Traveling through time, expressionistic surfaces and imagery emerge to become incorporated into conceptual objects and, often, those objects are again transformed – a recycling and repurposing of the materials used and the themes explored.

The overarching theme of the work is grounded in the juxtaposition of the continuing degradation and devastating loss of our environment and the deep love I have of the natural world, the timeless awareness and joy that can be found today and in each day.
